Isla Santa Cruz
Up

The Isla Santa Cruz is where we both began and ended our journey on the Galápagos Islands, and is the most inhabited, and commercial center, of the Islands.  As we returned to Santa Cruz, marking the end of our fantasy aboard the Samba, we truly were struck by the sadness of leaving the Samba, the crew, and our fellow travelers (not to mention all the food and luxury).

"Hey...What's going on?"

It is Turtle Nap Time!

Fritz points out the oncoming white-tipped reef shark.  We took the panga out to Caleta Tortuga Negra on Las Bajas de Santa Cruz where we saw countless white-tipped reef sharks, together with black tipped reef sharks.  Some of these sharks were up to 5-6 feet in length.

Another white-tipped reef shark swims dangerously close to the panga.  "Keep your hands out of the water!"

We also saw many golden manta rays, as well as....

...schools of eagle manta rays which kept playfully swimming by our panga.

And so our wonderful and exciting journey to the Galápagos Islands came to an end.  We hoped you like all of these photos as much as we enjoyed taking them!!
