Hoi An Photos
Up

After 2 nights in Nha Trang, we pushed further northward toward Hoi An.  Our drive was an all day affair that was remarkably pleasant given the company and the excellent scenery.  Vietnam is a land of magnificent scenic beauty, and many of us were somewhat taken aback by how beautiful it was.  Much of our drive skirted the coast, where ocean vista after ocean vista awaited us.  When we headed inland, we were greeted with the beauty of the mountains and rice paddies.

Most of the rice paddies we saw were a verdant, rich green.  Here though, the fields are yellowed, indicating harvest time is here.  And harvesting the rice is precisely what these workers are doing.

Hoi An was a charming city full of old world charm, much of it looking like it did in the 18th century.  Here the local ice delivery man carts around massive blocks of his cold product.

While Be and Hieu drove to Danang to replace a window in the van which had fallen out during our prior day's drive (where Rich happened to be sitting), the rest of the group enjoys some excellent ice cream at the Tam-Tam.  Hoi An was a great, small town, one we all would have liked to spend much more time in.  Oh well, the next time we are in Vietnam (and their will be a next time).

Continue with us as we reach our final destination in Vietnam, Hanoi.
