More Trek 2 Everest
Up

Yaks, prayer flags, and the Ama Dablam peak in the background, all on a high mountain pass on the way from Pangboche to Dingboche--what more could you ask for from a Nepal trek?

In Pangboche, we camped at a wonderful sight with a great view of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, and other peaks.

Peaks, valleys, and rivers where our constant scenic companions-- breathtaking views at every turn.

Before we reached Base Camp, we climbed the peak of Kala Patar, at over 18,000 feet (our altitude high point to date, as Base Camp sits at 17,600 feet).  Our rather strenuous effort was rewarded with glorious views of Sagarmatha, or Mt. Everest.

Mt. Everest again.  In the lower left hand corner (the gray area) is Everest Base Camp, with the Khumbu Icefall stretched out in front of it.

Everest is the blackened peak to the left.  In the foreground sits Nuptse which, though tall, only appears taller than Everest.

You guessed it....Everest again.

Posing in front of the mammoth mountain as we descend from Kala Patar.

The next morning, we rose very early for the trek to Base Camp.  One of the benefits of such an early and cold start was that we were able to watch the sun rise right over Everest's peak--a pretty cool sight.

Here it is...Everest Base Camp, which sits upon gray rock and boulder which, in turn, sit upon glacier.  The area is pitted out and cratered--kinda like the moon.

Continue with us as we spend 3 nights up at Everest Base Camp with our friends in the Everest 2000 - Mountain Link Expedition.
