Everest Base Camp 2
Up

This is our friend, Robert Link, the lead guide on the Everest 2000 expedition.  Robert also guided us on both our private trips to Mt. Rainer in Washington.  Robert has previously  summitted  Everest, but from the more difficult, north side.  This attempt will be from the easier, south side route.  Robert heads up the guiding company, "Mountain-Link" which is a subsidiary of Mountain Hard Wear.  Check out their website at www.mountain-link.com.  Maybe one of their trips will appeal to you.

Kelly with Robert's wife, Cari.  Cari accompanied us during our first Rainer trip, so we got to know her well then and we have always enjoyed her company.  She was staying in Base Camp for a week before heading back home to Berkely, California.

This is Mike Brown, professional film-maker, and climber.  Mike was filming the entire expedition for a special which currently is scheduled to air on NBC November 9th.  This date will, no doubt, change, but it should be pretty cool.

This is Mike Hahn in the communications tent, filing a dispatch for either www.quokka.com or www.mountainzone.com. Mike writes for both and, in addition, is a career mountain guide who also has successfully summitted Everest from the north side.  Mike will be climbing and reporting on this trip, and is a great, experienced, asset to the team.

Kelly and Kim Gattone, the sole female climber on the expedition.  An experienced mountaineer, Kim generated a good deal of pre-climb publicity resulting in her being sponsored by WebTV , Galyan's sporting goods store, and others.

In the Base Camp kitchen, Penba Sherpa works his magic once again.  Penba not only is a wonderful, pleasant, guy, but a great cook as well.  The food at Base Camp was absolutely superb.

Kelly, our Sirdar, Dendi, "Georgie", a climbing sherpa, Penba the cook, and Karma, one of our kitchen helpers.

While at Base Camp, we had the special opportunity to take part in the Puja ceremony.
What is a Puja ceremony?  Continue on and find out for yourself.
